Collection: Kutani Ware Bizan Kiln
Bizan Kiln was established in the late Meiji period as a Kutani ware painting kiln. They have been a famous kiln that has continued to be loved by people by incorporating a sense of the times into their traditional style. Their works are painted based on the Kutani Gosai (five colors of Kutani), which has been handed down for 360 years, and the tradition matches the modern life, making it enjoyable to use.

Production area
All products handled by Bizan Kiln are reliable, domestically made items. The ceramic base is sourced from either a Kutani ware kiln in Ishikawa Prefecture or from Mino in Gifu Prefecture. The tea strainers are manufactured in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata Prefecture, renowned for its metalwork. All painting and decoration are done in Nomi City, Ishikawa Prefecture.
Coloring
Many of the products from Bizan Kiln are hand-painted by skilled artisans. Using "Japanese paints," whose viscosity is carefully adjusted to match temperature and humidity, the artisans meticulously apply color to each design with a brush. The color intensity varies depending on the thickness of the paint—thicker applications create deeper hues, while thinner layers produce lighter tones. The final appearance also varies subtly depending on the kiln temperature and the placement within the kiln, ensuring that no two pieces are exactly alike. When touched, you can feel the surprising texture and raised details of the painted design, showcasing the warmth and charm of handcrafted work.
Color
