Sakazuki

A “Sakazuki” is a traditional Japanese sake cup, typically shallow and wide in shape.
It is often used during ceremonial occasions such as weddings, New Year celebrations, and Shinto rituals, symbolizing respect, gratitude, and the sharing of bonds.
Unlike the deeper guinomi, the sakazuki allows sake to spread gently across the palate, letting one savor its fragrance and flavor in a refined manner.
Many sakazuki are made of porcelain or lacquerware, often beautifully decorated with hand-painted designs, gold accents, or auspicious motifs.
In Japanese culture, exchanging sake with sakazuki represents the act of forming or renewing connections — a gesture of harmony and sincerity that embodies the spirit of hospitality.

Ochoko

An “Ochoko” is a small traditional Japanese cup used for drinking sake.
Compact and easy to hold, it is designed to enhance the intimate experience of sipping sake, whether warm or chilled.
Ochoko are often made from porcelain, pottery, or glass, and can range from simple and minimalist designs to richly decorated works of art with hand-painted patterns or gold detailing.
They are typically paired with a sake bottle (tokkuri) and used in both casual gatherings and formal occasions.
In Japanese culture, pouring sake for one another using an ochoko represents respect, friendship, and gratitude — a graceful gesture that reflects the heart of Japanese hospitality.

Guinomi

A “Guinomi” is a small Japanese sake cup traditionally used for enjoying warm or cold sake.
Slightly larger than a sakazuki (ceremonial cup) but smaller than a Western tumbler, the guinomi fits comfortably in the hand and allows one to appreciate both the aroma and flavor of the sake.

In Japanese culture, the guinomi is more than just a drinking vessel — it reflects the artistry and individuality of its maker.
Each cup is carefully handcrafted, often featuring unique glazes, colors, or hand-painted designs that make every piece one of a kind.

Whether used for savoring sake or displayed as a collectible art piece, the guinomi embodies the harmony of function and beauty found in traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Sake Sets

Sake reveals its true character through temperature, air, and the vessel from which it is enjoyed. A sake set is not merely functional—it plays an essential role in enhancing aroma, flavor, and the overall experience.

A thoughtfully curated sake set, consisting of a tokkuri or katakuchi and matching cups, brings harmony to the act of pouring and drinking. Crafted by Japanese artisans, each piece is designed with careful attention to form, texture, and mouthfeel, allowing the nuances of sake to be fully appreciated.

A well-chosen sake set transforms a simple drink into a quiet, mindful ritual, enriching everyday moments and elevating special occasions. Ideal for personal enjoyment, refined hospitality, or as a meaningful gift, a sake set celebrates the timeless beauty of Japanese craftsmanship and the art of savoring sake.
